Choquequirao Trek 5 Days

The 5-day Choquequirao tour is an incredible and strenuous trek that will take you to one of the last refuges of the Inca civilization. Choquequirao at 3,303 meters above sea level, is a large archaeological site that is still under bushes and in the process of being restored, located in the surroundings of the sacred Inca mountain the Apu Salkantay at 6,272 meters above sea level, and the Apurimac River. You will observe the wonderful mountain landscapes, as well as a lot of Andean flora and fauna.

  1. Day 1 CUSCO – CACHORA – COCA MASANA – ROSALINA BEACH

    We will pick you up at your hotel early at 05:00 am. We proceed to drive almost 4 hours to Cachora. During the trip in private mobility, you can see the snowy white mountains of Salkantay and Veronica, the Sacred Gods of the Incas. You will also be able to see the spectacular views of the upper part and the lower valleys with colorful landscapes, then we will continue our trip for about an hour to Capulliyuc, where we will meet our Arrieros and our cook will prepare us a delicious meal to start a two-hour trek. to Chikiska at 2,115 meters above sea level. Along the way we get our first views of the Apurimac Valley spread out below and of the snow-capped peaks of Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora. We then descend the eastern slopes of the Andes to reach Coca Masana. The temperature rises and the flora and fauna begin to change. Finally we arrive at Playa Rosalina at 1,550 meters above sea level, where we set up our tents next to the Apurimac River.

  2. Day 2 ROSALINA BEACH – MARANPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO

    We will get up early at 5:00 am. Afterwards, we will enjoy a breakfast and immediately start walking to reach Maranpata or Choquequirao after noon. We will arrive at the archaeological site and we will know it step by step, the great skill and intelligence of the people who built this vestige that makes us see again the glorious time of the Inca civilization. Admiring the beauty of the place, we will also have the opportunity to observe how the condors fly, which appear around 3 pm, in the Choquequirao area when they fly to higher areas. Later we take a route to Raqaypata where we camp and after dinner we spend the night.

  3. Day 3 VISIT TO CHOQUEQUIRAO ALL DAY

    On this new day we will dedicate ourselves exclusively to enjoying all the magic of history and the splendor of Choquequirao. Your guide will spend around 5 hours explaining the highlights of Choquequirao to get to know the entire site with its 8 sectors, such as granaries, houses, temples and we will also see the three levels of the excavated ruins of this late Inca city. Once again we will have the opportunity to enjoy the majestic flight of the condors, which with a lot of luck will pass very close to you. In the afternoon we will return to our camp to have lunch and then rest and enjoy the tranquility of Choquequirao and spend the night there.

  4. Day 4 CHOQUEQUIRAO – SANTA ROSA – CHIQUISKA

    Once again we got up very early to take advantage of the morning shade. After packing our things we will enjoy a quick breakfast and immediately start walking towards the town of Santa Rosa, where the vegetation will become abundant and the weather warmer, we will continue walking until we reach Playa Rosalina from where we will continue going up to the Chiquiska sector where we will have lunch and we will spend the night there.

  5. Day 5 CHIQUISKA – CACHORA – CUSCO

    The last day we got up very early at 5:00 a.m., after packing our belongings we enjoyed our breakfast, then we began to walk to the highest point of the Choquequirao trail after a walk of approximately 4 hours we will arrive at the Mirador Capuliyoq, where our private transport will wait for us to take us back to Cusco.
